As I surf the intertubes I’ve found that many of the right-wing blogs that populate the right side of the Cheddarsphere are fond of pointing out what they perceive is a lack of civility from those of us on the left side of the political spectrum.
Strangely, those same folks who are so outraged at the hateful rhetoric and incivility of the left are often silent as church mice when it comes to hateful rhetoric coming from individuals on their side of the political spectrum. Case in point would be the absolutely hateful rhetoric coming from leaders within the “Tea Party” movement at a rally here in Wisconsin on Saturday.
Speaking at the “Milwaukee” Tea Party Express rally in Thiensville on Saturday, Tea Party Nation CEO Judson Phillips (pictured, right) made it abundantly clear that he hates (and that word might actually be an understatement) those of us on the left side of the political spectrum and what we believe in.
“I will tell you ladies and gentlemen, I detest and despise everything the left stands for. How anybody can endorse and embrace an ideology that has killed a billion people in the last century is beyond me,”

Not to be outdone by Judson Phillips, Vince Schmuki (pictured, left), a leader of the Ozaukee Patriot tea party group (and a leader of the spectacular failure of an effort to recall former Gov. Jim Doyle) compared the recalls efforts here in Wisconsin to the terrorist attacks that felled the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001 (emphasis added).
“This is ground zero,” said Schmuki. “You remember what the term ground zero means? We have been attacked.”
He continued, “Tuesday is going to be the beginning of our takeover. And we’re going to follow it up the following week, and then we’re going to polish off the enemy in November 2012. Who’s with me?”
So there you have it folks….Judson Phillips of the Tea Party Nation “detest and despise everything the left stands for” while Vince Schmuki thinks all the folks who’ve been working to recall those Republican State Senators who’ve stood in solidarity with Gov. Scott Walker’s anti-public employee agenda are comparable to the terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
Judson Phillips and Vince Schmuki ought to be ashamed of themselves, as should anyone who stands silent and condones their hateful rhetoric.
Weren’t there something like 10,000 to 15,000 people at a Tea Party rally in Milwaukee a couple of years ago?

That will never happen. It’s not in them to do the right thing. Besides they might get a scolding from Norquist
the Tea Party movement and the excitement it astroturfed was perfect camouflage for the solidification of the Republican law-makers and their ALEC takeover of government.

I’ve listened to the video up top and I can’t find anything wrong with what he said. Take for example what Obama’s manufacturing czar said.

I wouldn’t hold my breath, Zach. My own brother, who is a Tea Party sympathizer and supporter, posted a hateful comment directed at me on a thread on Facebook. He is angry because I sent him three separate news articles about an example of Tea Party hate directed at the left and the current president. There isn’t any human way to change them.

Summer didn’t stop them when they came out in force to protest the ‘massive, massive, government takeover of healthcare’ in 2009.
Two things have happened. First, the mainstream Republican party and the so-called Tea Party are one and the same. Second, because it was founded upon and attempts to continue as a rage-fueled effort, it must be acknowledged that some folks decide rage isn’t how they want to feel all the time. Anger flashes, burns and dies for most. Maybe even many.
And then there’s a third possibility. Perhaps people have figured out that the extreme radical mainstream Republican party has no interest in serving their interests.
