“Was the Cook case a scam?”

That is the title of the article over at the Mudville Gazette, a military blog that I occasionally read.

U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, the reserve soldier who says he shouldn’t have to go to Afghanistan because he believes Barack Obama was never eligible to be president, has had his deployment orders revoked, Army officials said.

Lt. Col. Maria Quon, U.S. Army Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Army Human Resources Command-St. Louis, said Tuesday evening, Cook was no longer expected to report Wednesday to MacDill Air Force Base in Florida for mobilization to active duty.

Mudville Gazette tells us that this might be a scam. The Major volunteered for this duty in May two months ago and once his orders were cut he went public and refused his orders until he could see proof that President Obama is a legitimate President.

Mudville Gazette has updated their story a few times to keep pace with the facts as they are being uncovered. Interestingly enough there appears to be a sense that Major Cook was rejected by his new boss when he pulled this stunt.

The officer who would have been his commander downrange “determined that he does not want the services of Maj. Cook”. (This by-name statement is quite different than stating you don’t need someone to do whatever job he had volunteered for.)

Would you want a Major who volunteered for this duty then went to court and asked for a delay in his orders because he doesn’t think the President is legitimate? He pretends to be all manly to go to Afghanistan and then he defies an order he could have declined. What soldier would follow a Major like this?

I think his fitness for command will be questioned and when he is pushed out by the Army we may hear ad infinitum that Obama did it.

Read the details on this.

  1. Yeah, this all seems engineered to me. Cook’s lawyer is Orly Taitz (Google her name, you’ll be seriously amazed), so I wouldn’t doubt if this was all staged for maximum effect. I’ve also heard Major Cook is a regular contributor to Free Republic.
