In the latest edition of Politico’ “Get To Know A Congressman” series, Rep. Gregg Harper (R-MS) was asked about the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, which advocates for hunters and fisherman in Congress. In response to the question, Rep. Harper explained what the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus likes to do for kicks:
POLITICO: What in the world does the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus do?
HARPER: We hunt liberal, tree-hugging Democrats, although it does seem like a waste of good ammunition.
I’m betting Rep. Harper was joking, but I’m also willing to bet Republicans would be up in arms if a Democrat joked about hunting and killing Republicans.
Very dumb to say and he should have known better not even to joke about that.
I don’t know about hunting and killing, but over the years plenty of liberals have wished death upon conservatives. Remember Dr. Julianne Malveaux wanting Clearance Thomas to die young of a heart attack from too much butter and bacon? This was no joke, but a callous wish on someone with different political views.
