Hump day news & notes

Just a few bits of news that caught my eye this morning…

  • Talking Points Memo has a writeup on the race in Wisconsin’s 8th congressional district between incumbent Democrat Rep. Dave Obey and Republican challengers Sean Duffy and Dan Mielke, who has labeled himself a “tea-party type candidate.” The NRCC is promoting Duffy as one of their “rising stars,” but he faces a steep uphill battle against Rep. Obey.
  • If you have a chance, go read the New York Magazine’s excerpt from Game Change, which takes a look deep inside John Edwards’ 2008 presidential campaign, where “nothing was too crazy to be true.”
  • Here in Milwaukee County, there are a heck of a lot of local elections, and there’s a heck of a lot in which the incumbents will be unopposed. Here in Cudahy, there are three candidates on the ballot for mayor – Kevin Fech, Tony Day, and incumbent Ryan McCue, and from what I’ve learned, Fech drew the top spot on the ballot. I’ll have more on the Cudahy mayoral election in another post, as there’s a lot of conspiracy theories and wild accusations being made that I just can’t wait to address!
