ARRA created or saved 2.1 million jobs, says CBO

Here’s a bit of news that flies in the face of the conservative talking point that the $787 billion stimulus package, officially called the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,didn’t create a single job. According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget office, the ARRA helped blunt the impact of the recession, creating 2.1 million jobs in the last three months of 2009. What’s more, the CBO also noted ARRA boosted the economy by up to 3.5 percent and lowered the unemployment rate by up to 2.1 percent during that period.

But clearly conservatives know more about what the ARRA did or didn’t do than the Congressional Budget Office does.
