WI Dept. of Justice to cut sexual assault victim grants by 42% thanks to Walker budget cuts

Welcome to Republican Wisconsin, where thanks to budget cuts imposed by Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s biennial budget, the Wisconsin Department of Justice plans to cut Sexual Assault Victim Services grants by 42.5%. Officials from the Department of Justice said the cuts are necessary because the state budget has imposed a 10 percent cut to all state agencies and another $174.3 million in cuts on top of that.

So in Scott Walker’s Wisconsin, victims of sexual assault will find their options severely limited when they’re looking for services to help them move past their victimization, all in the sake of saving some money.

The saying “penny wise and pound foolish” comes to mind when I think about this.

  1. Does this really surprise anyone? The Walker administration as well as their pro-birth minions like Vukmir, Lazich, Grothman et.al have always supported parental rights for rapists.

  2. No surprise here. The autharitarian father figures continue their war on women. Ater all, Eve continues to entice the otherwise virtuous Adam.
