Texas GOP lawmaker: pregnancy only happens after “accurate intercourse”

Yep, those Republicans sure are smart when it comes to all things relating to women’s health and reproductive rights…

The brilliance this time comes from state Sen. Bob Deuell (R-So SMRT), whose legislative website says he is “a board-certified family physician.” According to the Facebook post by his colleague Rep. Dukes, Sen. Deuell (who is now one of the R’s in the Texas Senate trying to interrupt Sen. Davis’s filibuster) had this insight during the debate:

Another ah ha moment in the senate during SB5, Sen. Duel [sic] said pregnancy only occurs after “accurate intercourse”.

You just can’t make this stuff up.

  1. You know what you call a physician who graduates in the bottom half of his class?
    Doctor.
    Or Senator, apparently.

  2. Zach: ” You just can’t make this stuff up”

What person with an ounce of sanity would want to? But somebody’s making it up. Because I doubt if you could find any “board certified” anything whose got a single verifiable fact about this.

  3. Ha, ha. Guffaw. However, since the good doctor’s actual words were “act of intercourse”, perhaps it’s Representative Dukes who is the fool.
