Jon Richards endorsed by Milwaukee Deputy Sheriff’s Association

From my email inbox comes news of the endorsement of Democratic Attorney General candidate Jon Richards by the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriff’s Association.

MILWAUKEE— Wisconsin Attorney General candidate Jon Richards has been endorsed by the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriff’s Association. The Milwaukee Deputy Sheriff’s Association is the first law enforcement organization to endorse in the Democratic primary, and is the fifth labor union to endorse Jon Richards for Attorney General.

“Jon Richards is a proven leader on addressing the important public safety issues that our communities face,” said Roy Felber, President of the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriff’s Association. “Jon’s the best candidate in the election for Attorney General because he has extensive experience dealing with public safety issues and he has stood with Wisconsin’s workers every step of his career. He is the right candidate to tackle the important public safety issues facing our state as Attorney General, and that is why we are proud to stand with Jon Richards this election.”

“I am honored to the have the support of the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriff’s Association,” said Jon Richards. “I am committed to forming strong partnerships with local law enforcement to keep our communities safe from drunk drivers, internet predators, and dangerous criminals. Wisconsin’s working families deserve an Attorney General who will be on their side and fight for them, and I’ll work every day with front-line law enforcement to do just that.”

Given the fact that Richards has no prosecutorial or law enforcement experience (other than the work he’s done to assist law enforcement as a legislator), the endorsement of his campaign by the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriff’s Association would certainly seem to be a step in the right direction towards assuaging concerns about his lack of experience in that regard.
