Why is Brad Schimel so fond of turning a blind eye to the misdeeds of his fellow Republicans?

Last week I wrote about Waukesha County District Attorney (and current Republican Attorney General candidate) Brad Schimel’s refusal to investigate Republican State Rep. Joel Kleefisch after allegations surfaced that a bill put forward by Rep. Kleefisch that would allow high-income parents to avoid paying tens of thousands of dollars a year in child support was written with the help of Michael Eisenga, a multi-millionaire business owner who happened to be a donor to Kleefisch. As written, the bill could have paved the way for Eisenga to force the courts to reopen his divorce settlement to allow him to shirk his parental responsibilities as relates to child support.

Here’s more on DA Schimel’s decision not to investigate his fellow Republican.

The progressive group One Wisconsin Now asked the Waukesha County District Attorney to investigate Kleefisch.

“It reinforces that notion that there’s pay-to-play going on in the Walker administration and with the Republican Legislature, and so we asked Mr. Schimel to take a look at this to see if any laws were broken. His response was shocking,” Ross said.

Schimel sent an email to the group asking: “Why can’t a legislator press for legislation that benefits a person who has contributed to their campaign? Isn’t that the essence of representative government?”

“DA Schimel seems to think he’s there to serve the interest of donors — and he’s come flat out and said it. The essence of representative government is people buying and selling legislation?” Ross said.

FOX6 Investigator Bryan Polcyn attempted to ask Schimel about the controversy.

Bryan Polcyn: “He wanted me to just ask about the Joe Kleefisch stuff with One Wisconsin Now?”

“Yeah, I can’t — we’ve really got to…” Schimel said.

A Schimel staffer told FOX6 News they would follow up later.

The follow-up was an email that said: “DA Schimel is unavailable for the rest of the week.”

Here’s some video of Fox 6’s Bryan Polcyn attempting to ask Brad Schimel about his refusal to investigate allegations of “pay to play,” followed by Schimel’s abrupt termination of their interview. It’s pretty awkward, as you’ll see for yourselves.

  1. This guy takes the term “Wisconsin Republican Slimebag” down to a whole new level. In his early years, he gives Scott Jensen a complete pass on what should have been felony convictions for corruption. Now he gives Joel Kleefish a complete pass on “pay to play” legislation written BY Mr. MoneyBags Michael Eisenga who is a major campaign donor to both Kleefish and Governor Walker.

Apparently the ONLY people he has the gonads to go after are the two emotionally damaged 12 year old girls who he has charged as “ADULTS” in the SlenderMan stabbing. Takes a real big man to “Take Down” the two 12 year old girls while letting Republican scumbags get off scot-free.

    What a slimebag!!!

  2. Chicagoans look at the Waukesha County GOP machine and say “Wow, those guys are crooked.”

Let’s also remember that Schimel never gave a second look to the ripped ballot bags and other sketchiness surrounding Kathy Nickolaus in the 2011 Supreme Court race. I’m thinking this AG nomination is a kickback for some of this.

It’s time to let the rest of the state know what a scumbag this guy is. Get to it, DPW
