Hey Senator Johnson, Do the math:

If you’ve been paying attention to the news recently, you probably know that Senator Ron Johnson (R – WI) was concerned that all we heard about COVID-19 on the news was the deaths…and not the fact that 97 – 99% of the people survive!

Johnson went on to tell the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “I’m not denying what a nasty disease COVID-19 can be, and how it’s obviously devastating to somewhere between 1 and 3.4 percent of the population. But that means 97 to 99 percent will get through this and develop immunities and will be able to move beyond this.

Well the jury is out on whether survivors actually develop an immunity, but we know that science isn’t the Senator’s strong point. But let’s look at the math!

The U.S. population is about 329,494,000 people. And let’s take the Senator’s average and 98% survive. That means 2% die. I will show my math:

329,494,000 Americans and 2% of them die or 6,589,880 Americans are dead.

6,589,880 dead Americans.

Do you know how many people live in Wisconsin? 5,441,000!

So Senator Johnson is willing to lose the entire population of Wisconsin plus some of the good folks in Minnesota and the upper peninsula just because he doesn’t want to interrupt the economy?

Senator, don’t you think that losing 6 million people will pretty much interrupt the economy?

P.S. yes I do in fact realize that not every single American will contract COVID-19. But I have seen articles from medical practitioners who predict that without the strict social distancing being mandated, 70% of Americans probably would have gotten it. That is still nearly 5 million American deaths.
