Chuck Todd to #OurDumbSenator Ron Johnson: You’re the Arsonist

During an appearance yesterday morning on “Meet The Press” host Chuck Todd has a testy exchange with Ron “Our Dumb Senator” Johnson regarding Johnson’s unproven claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

“You’re the arsonist here,” Todd said to Johnson in discussing battles over election fraud. “President Trump is the arsonist here. You started this fire and now you’re saying whoa, look at this, oh my god, all these people believe what we told them because you didn’t have the guts to tell the truth that this election was fair.”

Johnson responded by accusing the mainstream media of working to overthrow Trump throughout his administration. “This fire was started back in, you know, January of 2017,” he said.

Here’s video of Sen. Johnson’s exchange with Chuck Todd:

What Sen. Johnson and his Republican conspirators are doing is not only dishonest; it’s dangerous as well. These Republicans (in what certainly seems like an attempt to curry favor with Donald Trump) are undermining the very foundation of our democracy, and in doing so they’re doing damage that could take a long time to undo. I’d say Ron Johnson should be ashamed of himself, but as he’s proven time and time again he has no shame – he’s a partisan hack through and through.

  1. I was stunned Russ Feingold lost to this man years ago, but I had no idea it would come to this.

It’s let some people I disagree with on most issues show they actually care about the truth. It’s stunning how quickly people like John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Paul Ryan are reduced to scorn at the snap of a finger for not falling in line with the lies and immorality of whatever monstrosity the modern Republican Party has become. As so many checks and balances fall like a house of cards it shows how even with the resiliency built in to protect the republic from people like this, there is still a threat if people don’t pay attention.

In the early 2000s I was brainwashed by (literal) communists that George W. Bush was going to lock down the country in a Christian theocracy street by street. I quickly realized the propaganda I was fed was nonsense. I don’t agree with much of what he did, but at least he had loyalty to political freedom even existing in this country. Now I see the result when people turn off any questioning of outlandish claims.

The most scary thing of all is that these people probably actually believe what they are peddling. I agree with Pat Robertson on almost nothing, but he called it well when he said Trump is living in an alternate reality. I’m not sure what’s more scary, a calculated dismantling of political freedom or a crazed mob that actually believes its own lies.
