Opponents of health care reform make threats of violence

Labor unions, never a favorite of many on the right, have started receiving threats for their attempts to organize counter-demonstrations at town hall meetings that have been plagued by disruptions from opponents of health care reform. In fact, as noted by the Huffington Post, the SEIU received the following threat (edited for content), which reads to be from an opponent of health care reform in Racine:

You socialist f—s have the nerve to say stop the violence at the town hall meetings when they weren’t violent until you p—ies showed up because your n—– leader obama said to?????? When we have ours in Racine, Wi, I want you there. I want one of your little b—– to put his hands on this Marine. I want one of you to look or talk to me wrong. I’ll be the last thing your ignorant faux body guards will remember for a very long time. You can f—ing guarantee that.

Yeah, nothing says “honest debate” like foul language, threats of violence, and racial epithets.

  1. Zach. This is disturbing to say the least. I don’t want to project too much because nothing has happened but if something does happen I hope the decent people take note who is responsible for inciting the violence…and I hope the police start arresting some of them.

And…please people…don’t take your kids to these town hall meetings.

  2. People just to chill the —- out a little. Anger is good, it helps drive us a humans. Madness is just foolish. Now, I’m guilty of the occasional inflammatory profanity, but even I understand that if your right, all you need do is stand on that fact, don’t back down, and watch the idiots lose control.
I think real violence will occur before this is all over, and I say BOTH sides will be to blame.

    1. Rabbit, while you have a point that this cuts both ways, I haven’t seen any indication of threats being made by folks on the left in response to what’s been going on at these town hall meetings.

          1. Of course not, but just like the right can be blamed when they spout off something stupid and some idiot follower takes them litteraly, the same SHOULD hold true for the left. …no?

  3. Rabbit…I disagree. I’ve been reading the news/blogs and the inciting is coming from one side. If people decide they won’t be intimidated by these inciters they are not to be blamed for the violence. I just hope these inciters realize if innocent people get hurt…or police officers get hurt trying to keep the peace…they are to blame.

There is nothing respectable about inciting violence…and those who are inciting violence should be ashamed of themselves. They know there is a better way. Inciting violence is a cowardly (and lazy) way to deal with difficult issues.

    1. Okay, I’m sure I’m missing it. but I don’t believe “inciting” the expression of ones right to free speech is not the same as inciting physical harm. I have not heard/read any of THAT going on. (I try to stay away from the crazy blogs.) If a political leader from the right where to say “hit them twice as hard”, and physical violence ensues, they would be the ones to blame. Shouldn’t the same hold true from the left side of thangs? How much more from the president of the United States?
I’m sure I’m extra picky, “my guy”s not in office, but I would hope I would make at least a little stink if the tables where turned.

  4. What is so threatening about the gov’t paying for health care when the Fed already does it for the entire military, local gov’ts do it for police, fire and sheriff. And we already have bureaucrats deciding on what service will or will not be allowed — it’s by corporations who don’t have any obligation to keep people healthy. They are after profit. And in the case of deciding whether people can live or die, that’s wrong.
