If one was looking desperately to rationalize the confiscation of personal wealth, this would suffice.
So when it’s teachers, nurses and firefighters it’s “shared sacrifice,” but when it’s corporations, it’s “the confiscation of personal wealth.”. Seems about right for a corporate thrall such as yourself…
Phil,
I see from where you come…. when one can rationalize that money coming from taxpayers is equivalent to money coming from consumers paying for goods and services…. it makes it all the easier to compound that rationalization to include the confiscation of $$$ from those *evil corporations*… Was it Karl Marx that believed that the wealth of the nation was basically the property of ‘the people’? That worked out great 🙂
Explain to me how it’s different (economically). Since C and G are both part of the equation for GDP…
I don’t believe I used the term “evil” anywhere in my post so that’s a logical fallacy (a straw man). In fact, I believe the phrase I used was
It is you who are projecting a moral failing on America’s corporations for failing to pay their fair share. I was merely providing a chart. You drew your own conclusions. And your inability to respond to the question of “shared sacrifice” in the followup comment leads me to believe you have no defense for your argument… Yes?
And I just adore the slippery slope right down to Communism… It’s so cute! You’re taking your lead from Allen West now? Ineffective and logically fallacious, but cute nonetheless.
@Smeety Unless you do actually believe a corporation is a person, then this really can’t about about the confiscation of *personal* wealth.
Who do you think *owns* corporations? Ewoks?
If that’s the case, then why are corporate officers usually shielded from the misdeeds of their corporations? Your argument would be a lot stronger if the CEO of GEO were held accountable for the gross abuse of children at one of his facilities.
But then conservatives are all about avoiding personal responsibility.
Telling, but would have preferred comparison of Corp pre-tax earnings vs corp taxes.
Go to FRED and make your own chart! It’s easy!
