QUESTION: Who’s the only President since World War II to preside over an economy in which federal government employment rose more rapidly than employment in the private sector?

Think hard about that question, and when you’re ready to answer, click the link.

So what’s the answer to the question, you ask? It’s simple, but first a few hints. It wasn’t John F. Kennedy or Jimmy Carter, nor was it Ronald Reagan or Lyndon B. Johnson. The answer?

ANSWER: George W. Bush

That’s right folks, the only President since World War II to preside over an economy in which federal government employment rose more rapidly than employment in the private sector is George W. Bush, which only serves to underscore the fact that our nation’s economy is booming quite as much as some conservatives would have folks believe.

Further, there’s only one President in that same time period who has actually reduced the size of the federal bureaucracy, and that President isn’t a Republican – it’s Bill Clinton. To recap, it was under a Republican president that federal employment rose more than employment in the private sector, and it was under a Democratic president that federal jobs were actually reduced.

So much for the conservative argument that Democrats are all about big government.

h/t to Jay from folkbum for first pointing this out.
