That Pesky First Amendment

Really gets in the way of one party rule, it is also quite clear:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Yet yesterday republicans had people in the gallery arrested for holding 8 1/2 X 11 sheets of paper or having them attached to their shirts!

Again, while it was stupid to pour a beer on Robin Vos, but it is downright illegal and dangerous to blatantly deny people their first amendment rights. One protestor dumping a beer gets him a disorderly conduct ticket, it does not cause all people who disagree with republicans to lose their first amendment rights. A couple other questions:

* Why would police follow orders that they know are illegal?

* Does it take 10 policemen at Wisconsin taxpayer expense(arent we broke?) to arrest peaceful protestors?

* Where is the tea party?

FYI – Its hard to claim the moral high ground, when you have no morals!

  1. Republicans who think we need 10 police officers to quash dissent in the gallery is shameful. Walker and the GOP have officially become Stalin and the Comintern.

  3. It seems odd that certain people here defend the right of free speech, but yet want people investigated and questioned over ‘thoughts’.

    1. You surely can’t be referring to Walker’s discussions about disrupting demonstrators. . . because discussions are actions, rather than thought, idiot. And, as has been pointed out to you time after time, that can be prosecuted, and is prosecuted on a regular basis, by the US Attorney.

      Idiot.

      1. Thinking, discussing, and talking are verbs, meaning action. However, if I say, “I’m gonna kill him” and I don’t, you are saying I can be prosecuted for murder. Absurd.

It’s like these idiotic terrorist plots the FBI comes up with that entraps stupid people and they buy phony bombs. They have initiated doing something.

However, that is not the same as discussing strategies and dismissing certain tactics that are flawed.

That is my point as someone who is not a black-robed conspirator or a slimy asp, know as a lawyer.

          1. Well, all I can say is let me know when they prosecute him. I am sure you’ll come up with some idiotic legal mumbo jumbo excuse when they don’t.

            1. Orlin, could you please just STFU?

              Seriously.

Honest to God, dude, it’s downright painful reading what you write.

You have my sympathies, man. It must be very difficult being you.

“Why don’t you have a nice, hot cup of shutthefuckup?”

  4. I really d think that you get paid to come in here and muddy the waters o. Walker wanting to incite violence is a completely different subject than having quiet citizens removed for having a piece of paper.

    1. If you can pay me more to leave, I will. It would cost you a single penny.
Seriously, if Walker incited violence, I’d call for his head, but discussing such is not the same thing. If you defend freedom of speech you must also include freedom of thought.

I should have commented on those holding signs and I didn’t. I apologize. I agree with everyone else, that that was BS.

On the flip side, I find it disingenuous. You want to be a collective, not individuals, so since that is your goal, why shouldn’t the collective be thrown out? One kid misbehaves in school and the entire class gets detention.
I do not agree with that.

          1. Just out of curiosity, Orlin:

            (1) How old are you?

            (2) How far did you get in school?

            (3) What do you do for a living?

  5. I still have my suspicions, but lets get real. This post is about the first amendment. The victim, Die the legislature can NOT stifle speech. Removing them gore directly against that. Plain and simple.

What Walker did by wanting to bring in violence speaks to his lack of morals and character, it does not violate the first amendment. However he should. As police chief wray asked, go in and explain himself. Go to the Capitol and pick out any politician and tell them you plan on beating them up. See where that gets you even though you have no intention to do so.

    1. JS, I don’t disagree with a word you say, my point was, it is despicable, it is against everything I believe, but it was not a crime and as much as we dislike it, we need to protect his right to dumb ass thoughts, And as I said, had he acted, I would be the first in line to say string him up.

      1. Sorry O i disagree completely. Thoughts & discussions do matter. Ask the crazy lady from madison that sent a death threat to the republican senators. i am sure she will pay dearly for that and she had no intention or way to do any harm to any of them. So why should scott walker get away with it?

Dont forget he ONLY decided against it because he felt it wouldnt help advance his political cause, NOT because it was the wrong thing to do.

I do agree that some times we trap some of these unsuspecting loons into pretending to do things like bomb the Sears tower, then we arrest them and pretend we are “winning” the war on terror. So why should Scott walker get a pass?

To be honest I think the sitting governor should be held to a higher standard.

That all being said it is not comparable or relevanmt to the post.

        1. Should Police and Firemen be held to a higher standard? Is this not a threat?
The undersigned groups would like your company to publicly oppose Governor
Walker’s efforts to virtually eliminate collective bargaining for public employees in
Wisconsin. While we appreciate that you may need some time to consider this
request, we ask for your response by March 17. In the event that you do not
respond to this request by that date, we will assume that you stand with
Governor Walker and against the teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters,
and other dedicated public employees who serve our communities.

In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining,
please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the
goods and services provided by your company

Btw, I said I agreed with everything you said and yet you disagree with me. How does that work?

I just think you are gonna have difficult convincing
anyone that thinking about throwing a beer on a politician and actually throwing a beer on a politician is the same thing.

          1. and youwill have a hard time convincing me that throwing a beer on a douchebag like Vos is anywhere near equal to bringing in violence to a place where thosuands of people(including myself) brought their families.

            1. The fact is, he didn’t follow through so there was no violence, and the other person did assault a person. Any reasonable can see the difference between a non-event (something that did not happen) and an event (something that did happen).

              1. The real fact is that you don’t understand the law and you are an idiot. How many times do you have to have it explained, idiot? How many? We’re over 20 so far. Will you ever get it, stupid?

          2. Orlin, look, you just seem in over your head here.

I’m reminded of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer is somehow mistaken to be an employee at a big company, and given an assignment to complete. After he “completes” it, his boss calls him into his office, and says, “I don’t understand a word of this.” Kramer responds by saying, “Well, maybe I could tweak it a little bit”, and the boss says, “No, I don’t think that will help. It’s like you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing.”

Every time that I read something that you write, I feel like that boss, and like I’m looking at that report of Kramer’s.

It’s clear that you’re passionate. Why you’re so passionate about the things that you are passionate about is far less clear because what you write is as inarticulate, often to the point of incoherence, as it is.

You’re frustrating many of the people here with your inability to grasp the simplest and most basic tenets of rational discourse, and I think that it is time that we got to the bottom of it

With that in mind, and, just out of curiosity, Orlin:

            (1) How old are you?

            (2) How far did you get in school?

            (3) What do you do for a living?

            1. Orly isn’t frustrating me, and I hope he/she/it isn’t frustrating anyone else. Dead-ender trollsnever do- I just clown them. As should all of you.

As to the topic at hand- the WisGOPs fear real people, which tells me that they know they’re losing the battle badly. So keep pushing on them, watch them totally implode, and stay out of the way of the collateral damage.

              1. Hey Jake, I think I do a pretty good job of balancing erudition and clowning the Orlmeister, or, as he was known in a past life, Inspector Clouseau.

While dealing with him actually does, in fact, rightly or wrongly, result in frustration for some, given his constant stream of word and concept salads, and apart from the great offense I take, and demonstrate, at his blatant racism, I fundamentally believe, as you do, that the best approach to dealing with Orlin is to clown him.

Just a few examples of many. . .

Huzzah, Sir Orlin, the Black Knight! Huzzah!

                (2) October 18, 2011 at 10:36 pm

                Orlin: “I’m not Mark Twain.”

Me: We know, Orlin. It’s been painfully clear from the start.

                Besides, you’re the Black Knight:

Orlin: “Yeah, and I’m tempted to call you a quadrilateral, astronomical, incandescent son-of-a-bitch. . .”

                Me: Jeez, you’re an idiot!

                (4) October 18, 2011 at 10:56 pm

Orlin Sellers: “Yeah, and I’m tempted to call you a quadrilateral, astronomical, incandescent son-of-a-bitch, but I’m not Mark Twain. Cheers!”

Me: Does anyone remember the episode of “Friends” where Joey writes a letter in support of Chandler and Monica’s adoption application, the one where he uses a thesaurus to make himself sound “more intelligent”, with predictable results?

I swear, every time the Orlmeister “opens his mouth”, I hear Joey using that thesaurus.

At least Joey had a fundamental, underlying sweetness to him that always saved him from being defined by his stupidity. Orlin just comes off as arrogant. . .and stupid. [END]

So, Jake, how am I doing so far, I mean, you know, in terms of clowning the fool?

I take his racism seriously, but the rest of his bullshit? Not so much.

Keep fighting the good fight, brother.

              2. Agreed with you Jake 100% ! Videos like this show their desperation, because they know they are fighting a losing battle and see it slipping away. I also agree that there will be people caught in their collateral damage.

also O when was the last time you addressed the actual topic at hand.

        1. Really? Do you wanna go there?
Firstly you need to get an answer from that Son-of-a-Miscegnation in the White House about assassinating American citizens without due process.

Now, compare my free speech, thoughts and inaction compared to that actual crime.

            1. I’m gonna stick my neck out, take the bull by the horns, let the cat out of the bag, and spill the beans, that you are a wet blanket by trying to paint me as a hangman by ignoring what was clearly an idiomatic expression and dishonestly interpreting it literally.
Will your next move be to accuse me of animal cruelty because I said, take the bull by the horns?
              Aye-yi-yi

          1. Orlin, putting aside your racism, I do agree with your opposition to President Obama ordering the assassination of American citizens without due process.

            That being said, “son-of-miscegenation?” Really?

            1. Gee, I was trying to appease Phil who somehow thinks calling a mulatto a mulatto is offensive. Personally, I don’t think it is anymore offensive than calling Bush a redneck, warmongering chicken hawk. But hey, that’s just me.

Having the utmost disdain for a Nobel Peace Prize winner who is bombing and warring with seven countries is not racist, it is being pissed off.

              1. Orlin: “Gee, I was trying to appease Phil who somehow thinks calling a mulatto a mulatto is offensive. Personally, I don’t think it is anymore offensive than calling Bush a redneck, warmongering chicken hawk. But hey, that’s just me.”

Orlin: “Firstly [sic] you need to get an answer from that Son-of-a-Miscegnation in the White House about assassinating American citizens without due process.”

Orlin, you’re a racist who employs coded language. If you’re unaware of its blatantly racist nature, it is just constitutes further evidence of your fundamental stupidity. If it’s intentional, shame on you. Either way, given your unapologetic and continued use of the language, the racism on your part that it represents is as disheartening as it is ugly. That you are referring to the President of the United States makes it all the worse.

You might as well have said, “Gee, I was trying to appease Phil who somehow thinks calling a [N-Word] a [N-Word] is offensive”, and “[f]irstly [sic] you need to get an answer from that [N-Word] in the White House about assassinating American citizens without due process.”

Shame on you, Orlin. Shame on you.

If I were Zach, you’d be gone.

                1. “The difference between the almost right word & the right word is really a large matter–it’s the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning” Mark Twain
I wouldn’t call Obama a naygur cuz he ain’t one. He is a mulatto, the son of a miscegenation.
But at least we know exactly where you stand and where your principle are. Politically correct words take priority with you over the assassination of American citizens and the slaughter of thousands of innocent people by the Peace Prize winner.
So, shame on you as you stand by and watch a blood thirsty lunatic carry on his battue.

                  IGNORE button re-engaged.

                  1. @ Orlin Sellers who wrote, “I wouldn’t call Obama a naygur cuz he ain’t one. He is a mulatto, the son of a miscegenation.”

I’ve done nothing more, sir, at this juncture, than take issue with your use of racist code words/phrases like “the mulatto [in the White House]” and “the Son-of-a- Miscegnation [sic] in the White House”. I now take issue with your use of the word, “naygur”, you pathetic little racist pig.

Have you truly no sense of decency?

If I could get beyond that gutwrenching display of racism on your part, I might very well move on to address why you felt that also referring to the President of the United States as a “bloodthirsty lunatic” was somehow either appropriate or accurate.

The reality is that I cannot.

Shame on you. And if Zach continues to let you participate here, shame on him.

                    1. After you are done beating your breasts, renting your clothes, and supplicating to Zach, maybe you’ll see the irony of your rants in a post called “That Pesky First Amendment,”
Obviously you think the 1st amendment applies only to politically correct speech,
Man, I can see you now building a fiery inferno in Salem getting ready to put some witch steaks on the stake.
That, my friend, is how ignorant and backward I see you. Other than that, have a nice day.

                    2. Orlin Sellers: “After you are done beating your breasts, renting [sic] your clothes, and supplicating [sic] to Zach, maybe you’ll see the irony of your rants in [sic] a post called “That Pesky First Amendment.” [sic]

Me: It’s 2011, you pathetic little racist pinhead. Your impotent and inarticulate protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, racism just isn’t acceptable, nor is racist speech, whether it is protected by the First Amendment or not.

In that walnut-sized brain of yours, regrettably, you seem to equate the ability to say hurtful, stomach-churning racist shit with the propriety of saying it. It really doesn’t get more fucked up than that.

You also somehow equate someone calling you on your anachronistic 21st Century racist bullshit with 17th Century witch-hunts and burnings at the stake. Are you really that obtuse?

I see fire, all right, but it is the image of the fire that consumed crosses across the South as the Ku Klux Klan violently fought to retain second-class citizenship for our black brothers and sisters, as racist pigs like you called them niggers, denied them the respect and the dignity that they deserved, and expected them to “step and fetch it”.

Your racism is ugly, it is indefensible and it is appalling.

So is your understanding of the First Amendment.

The First Amendment, in pertinent part, little homey, generally protects your freedom to utter offensive, racist shit against infringement by the government. But its protections, even against government action, are not absolute.

Moreover, it doesn’t insulate you from the understandable and well-deserved enmity that the offensive, racist shit you utter generates, nor does it preclude private citizens, businesses or websites from telling you, “Fuck off. You’re not allowed to utter racist bullshit here.”

Racism and racist speech are morally wrong and reprehensible, and they should be attacked and ostracized whenever and wherever they rear their ugly heads. The First Amendment was never intended to protect assholes like you from the well-served consequences of parading your racism and ignorance around in 2011 like it was 1850.

Zach is a moral guy, an eminently decent guy. Once you, your crazy-ass persona and your virulent, gut-wrenching racism finds its way onto his radar, he’ll do the right thing, and you’ll find just how far from absolute your First Amendment rights actually are.

I haven’t asked him to ban you, your mischaracterizations in this regard notwithstanding, although I think that he should. That’s up to him.

I will say this. You have diminished Blogging Blue with your racism, and your mind-numbing, mindless tropes. As long as you continue to and/or are allowed to post comments here, you will continue to diminish it.

The knuckle-draggers and mouth-breathers over at http://www.stormfront.org would welcome you with open arms. Why not do us all a favor and just goose-step your racist ass over there, instead of continuing to cast your obtuse and racist shadow here?

  6. Blogging Blue has a large readership, but not big enough. Please post the video on your social media sites and twitter accounts. This needs to go viral.

People need to see what’s happening in Wisconsin.

  7. Zach, I sent this to Ed Schultz as well. He has helped us in the past, so I’m sure he will make this video part of his show in the near future. He nearly always responds when I send him stuff, which isn’t a brag about me but more about how he truly listens to his fans.

  8. Wouldn’t it be great if Orlin Seller married Orly Taitz? Orlin and Orly Seller-Taitz!
AND, they’re both completely pasteurized, 100% nuts!

  9. Ooooookay….

How about we all just a step back from our keyboards, take a deep breath, and do something else for a few minutes?

Orlin has been dealt with, so there’s no need to beat that horse to death.
