I have been an avid observer of the race to replace Jon Richards in the 19th Assembly District…which comprises much of the East Side and Bay View neighborhoods in Milwaukee. Things are just starting to heat up with three announced candidates so far. The most recent candidate to announce is attorney Dan Adams who threw is fedora in the ring just a week ago. I had a chance to talk with him briefly during a fund raiser for Lt. Chris Moews campaign for sheriff and was impressed with his enthusiasm for public service and his understanding of the issues in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
But I was more than a little surprised by the missive I found in my email inbox this morning:
County Executive Chris Abele endorses Dan Adams for 19th Assembly District
MILWAUKEE– Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele proudly announced his support for former prosecutor Dan Adams’ bid for Wisconsin’s 19th Assembly District. Adams served as an Assistant District Attorney in Milwaukee County.
“Dan Adams is exactly the type of person you hope will run for elected office – one driven by the spirit of public service to promote and advance Milwaukee. Dan understands that we need people who are willing to work together to achieve success. He is a guy who will get things done for us in Madison. I support Dan Adams and I hope you will too.”
Abele is a lifelong Democrat. He and his family live in the 19th Assembly District.
“I’m honored to have the support of County Executive Abele,” said Adams. “I admire his steadfast commitment to choosing the public good over political grandstanding. We are fortunate to have his fact-driven, service-oriented approach to making public policy decisions.”
“I look forward to working with County Executive Abele to encourage Milwaukee’s future as a thriving knowledge economy by supporting entrepreneurial talent and education. Like County Executive Abele, I will be a strong advocate for marriage equality across Wisconsin, while focusing on solving problems—not name calling and finger pointing.”
Adams lives in Milwaukee’s Murray Hill neighborhood with his wife Gabrielle. The couple are restoring a historic home in the neighborhood. Both are graduates of UW-Madison Law School.
