It seems pretty clear that Ronald Reagan wouldn’t be elected president today given the extremism that has taken root within the Republican Party. Comments like the ones Reagan made would get him run out of the Republican Party as a “RINO,” which is saying something because Reagan was as conservative as any president we’ve had.
It’s sad that ideology has won out over pragmatism, because as we’ve witnessed first-hand here in Wisconsin, we need more pragmatic politicians, not more ideologues.
