Sup. Peggy Romo West on government transparency: “How much does the public have the right to know?”

Via Shaina (emphasis mine):

“We have over 20 open record requests. This corporation counsel’s advice has caused us to have numerous staff hours – supervisor hours going through these tedious requestsHow much does the public have the right to know? I have never fully agreed with any corporation counsel we’ve had but again I think there’s more negatives than positives here.” – Supervisor Peggy Romo West

Why am I not one bit surprised?

  1. Seems to me the public has the right to know everything–pertaining tro procedures and budgets, except the personal details of the Corp. employhees. Why hide the fact that we gather infomation for security and policy? Everyone knows it anyway.

  2. From the Kim Jong Un School of Governance?

Dear Supervisor Romo: ALL of it. Every last letter, every last word, every last secret deal. That’s what a democracy is all about.
