Yesterday the Republican congress members, deciding not to go all the way to a contract, came out with their “pledge” to America. After the theatrics had died down then people actually got a chance to take a look at it. Which, of course, did not bode well for the Republicans.
Luckily it was not the 68 page jobs plan that Scott Walker recently released. This “new” pledge was only 21 pages and turns out it was put together with oversight by a House staffer who, up till April 2010, served as a lobbyist for some of the nation\'s most powerful oil, pharmaceutical, and insurance companies. To no one’s surprise, the author Brian Wild, is on John Boehner’s payroll(quick aside, does Boehner even know anyone who isn’t a lobbyist?). Also thanks to Mike Pence, was able to throw some red meat to the base. While some did not want any social issues in the “pledge”, The decision to at least affirm opposition to abortion and gay marriage appears to represent a compromise between the factions.
You might ask how can a bunch of career politicians, be re-elected and shake things up in Washington and bring power back to the people? Well it turns out they can\'t.
